What a Discovery!
We have stumbled upon an amazing find less than an hour away! Sometimes when we don’t have any check-ins, we take the Miata on a day trip. This time we cruised down Route 20 and took in some of the cool sights of the area. The highlight for us was Hyde Hall. Overlooking Lake Ostego (commonly called Glimmerglass), this 55 room limestone mansion built in the 1800′s was fascinating. It is in the process of restoration, which is more interesting than a mansion all finished and pretty. The hour tour was too short, really…we would have like to poked around...

Take A Hike!
As the weather gets a little cooler, I am heading back into the woods. Just walking distance from the B&B is our famous beaver dam, the biggest we’ve ever seen. If you go at dusk you can often spot a beaver swimming and flapping his big tail. Rick is often available to lead a “Night Walk.” I don’t want to give away all his secrets, but it is amazing and informative. It’s just $35, worth every penny.
